The College was established as the Tennessee Radio Service School in 1947 at 422 Gay Street in Knoxville, Tennessee. The following year, the name was changed to Tennessee Institute of Electronics. Initially, the primary function was to prepare graduates for entry-level employment as electronic technicians in radio and television communications. The College became accredited in 1967 and continues to maintain its accreditation today by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). Continued growth and curriculum expansion afforded the College to once again outgrow its name. In May of 2003, the College became Fountainhead College of Technology.
Fountainhead College of Technology, founded more than 50 years ago, provides training for men and women desiring career positions in technology. Realizing that success depends on human factors as well as on technical competence, the staff strives to provide incentives in citizenship and leadership that should enhance the employability and growth potential of its graduates. The College is dedicated to the task of graduating well-trained, positively oriented and properly motivated graduates desired by industry. Therefore, the College continuously seeks constructive feedback and guidance from industry when evaluating and updating the curriculum.
Fountainhead College of Technology is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).
